Why was this account closed?

I finally won a game and then whamo!! I lost connection.

The account was "theturkeyreferee".

No warning. No one told me what happened. I was just playing daily games. I switched to rapid while waiting for someone to make a move in daily.

If I did something wrong, I am sorry. Please tell me, but all I did was play chess. I am not here to disobey the rules. I would like to continue some of the games on the other account though.

Please tell us if there is a problem before zapping us. It would greatly be appreciated.

TurkeySinatra

I only had one account. I only created this account after the other one closed.

The account shows closed for abuse. Opening new accounts, after getting closed for abuse, can get the new account closed as well, if the behavior that got the original account closed is continued.

I played a rapid game against michaelkappel

I can't link to it because this is a new account. However, you can see it in the history. As soon as the game was finished I couldn't connect back in to play another game. If they felt I was not playing fairly, they are wrong. I was not cheating. You can see clearly there were losses, and I missed something in the previous game. I was up and then they came back. So, I was not using any assistance.

I am not here to misbehave. I just wanted to play chess.

TurkeySinatra

I wasn't even chatting. I was playing chess. Yes, I was frustrated after losing to AshleyPlayssss but chat was disabled and anything profane was muttered behind the screen and not transmitted onto the site. I think I smacked the table.

"Most importantly you shouldnt create a new account without apologizing or questioning chess.com regarding the closure of your old account."

That doesn't make any sense. I can't type here now without a new account. They could have muted my account if it wasn't an issue with me playing.

I think better would be to send a message informing someone of a wrong. I have absolutely no idea what would have warranted it.

Is it possible someone was trying to ban another user and accidentally clicked on my account? That is why I am asking because I didn't type anything or chat with anyone on here. I was in the middle of playing rapid chess while waiting for daily game opponents to make their move.

TurkeySinatra

Ok, thanks for the replies. I'll wait and see how their peace negotiation skills play out.

I wasn't switching between daily to live chess. I was only playing live. If I was playing daily I would have stuck with daily and not rapid. Like right now, I am doing daily so I am not doing any rapid. It's one or the other. The opponent and I might be firing moves back and forth in a daily game, but I don't think that constitutes a breach of play ethics. They just want to get the game over as much as I do I figure.

You can always contact support, with or without an account.

However, being closed for abuse likely has nothing to do with game play, though it can in some instances. It is almost always due to content posted in forums or chat. Then, if you get an account closed for abuse and come back with a new one, posting in a very similar manner, you can get that account closed as well for creating a new account to bypass the previous closure.

A lot depends on the reasons for the original closure, but there are some instances where new accounts are closed on sight, if the previous closures were for something more extreme.

"A lot depends on the reasons for the original closure"

Yes, and only the people doing the act of closing know.

Generally speaking, accounts will be warned of inappropriate behavior, get muted, and banning will be for continuing community policies violations or extreme breaches. Returning accounts may not be given as much leaway.

TurkeySinatra

With zero feedback, people are zero the wiser. So, they will repeat the behavior unless someone communicates. Crystal ball policing doesn't help in this case. The authority figure needs to step in and explain the rules.

TurkeySinatra

You can generally speak until the cows come home. But repeat accounts will do repeat offenses until otherwise directed.

TurkeySinatra

That doesn't address why an account was closed to begin with.

TurkeySinatra

It's too late now, the daily games I started are already over. So, we might as well not reply to this thread.

Roaming_Rooster

He closed his account cuz it is thanksgiving.

LeLsadz

they didnt warn me and closed my account.

StumpyBlitzer

Of course you won't get warned,

Contact support is best option anyway for any appeal or discussions
