why wasnt I able to attack opponents bishop?

Can some please shed some light on why I wasn’t able to take my opponents bishop using my king? I have his defending piece pinned with my rook. It is after opponents move 14. Thanks. Here is the game : https://www.chess.com/game/139441702944

Even if the defender is pinned, you can’t take the piece with the king. I think it’s because if the kings could be taken, yours would be taken first, meaning you would lose.
