I accidentally put this in the wrong category. Should probably be under Help & Support.
Why were these threads locked? What rules did they break?
Because everything is so PC these days.
Agreed, but I'd still like an objective answer from the mods, especially those who did the locking. 'PC' is what I'd consider a subjective, cop-out answer.
The chess.com rules are meant to avoid offending any posters, including children, and potentially introducing offensive content. I understand that. However, thus far, neither of those threads appeared to be offending anyone or on the road to doing so.
Being easily triggered is an aboslute requirement for being a mod on most sites.
Can't think of a counter example to this statement!
Kidding, VintagePawn and MartinStahl are just two examples of reasonable people.

Yeah, and how about this thread?

The Founding Father of all chess.com pun threads.
I recall that wonderful thread! But it was far from the first pun thread on this site. I saw incredible pun threads here 8+ years ago.

Probably because we all came from a woman, and talking about how a rook will somehow enter trough one of her holes is weird probably offensive, yet a little bit fun.
Life is like that dud. But you needto keep your humbilities up and carry on.

I have no doubt that plenty of men and women have voluntarily placed rooks (among various other objects) into the same and analogous holes in their bodies, and liked it too!

Chess.com locks those threads but gives me adds about some Ukranian brides.
(The text makes no sense in this ocassion but I doubt must of you know Spanish, however the image does.)

Yes, I have no complaint about those ads.
Funny thing is that ads are supposed to be targeted based on our cookies from other websites, and my only other websites on this device are purely academic. Chess.com clearly just wants me to marry my own.

" I saw incredible pun threads here 8+ years ago". REALLY?
They may be on to you if your using the same account from 8+ yrs ago.

My only website in this computer is chess.com and I just deleted the cookies yet I keep getting that retarded message.
Does chess.com really think Im gonna click on that trash to get virus all over my computer?
I did have one older account here, since this one is 6/ 7 years old.
I'm actually not kidding about the academic websites... I'm in an academic institution (at least that's what they tell me).

If you ever have an issue with a topic that is locked you can open a ticket and see if staff members agree, or other staff members in the case that it was locked by staff, that it should have been locked.

I will say, based on the following quote from this topic, you can't be surprised on either case ...
"If this thread doesn't get me banned, I don't know what will: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/how-would-our-us-presidential-candidates-play-chess?"

This thread had a bunch of puns. Nobody was offended except, seemingly, David the moderator who chose to interpret silly puns as misogyny. A very superficial reading of the thread would also show that many of these puns could also be applied towards men. Have your own opinion, sure, but don't lock a thread because you choose to selectively attribute portions of a thread against your limited worldview. Isn't moderation supposed to be objective?

This thread was locked without explanation. The last comment was a simulated chess game, exactly on the topic of the original question. It was not a political discussion whatsoever. I made that clear in my original post.
