How long is your thing?

How long should you take when solving tactical puzzles?

ChessOfPlayer

8" give or take!

That is eight seconds.

It also varies on how hard my problem is.  The harder it is the longer.  But on my hardest puzzles it takes about 8"

I must admit I breathed a sigh of relief after I read the thread's content.

Mine is very short. I tend to finish very quickly.

Don't be jealous my my time.  I have a big tactics rating.

Wow... you must be really good at penetrating the computer's defenses!

Mine is very long. I need more time than the average player to finish the task.

Ok, this is worse than what I thought

Sometimes I take it too long, I just am not able to penetrate the computer's defenses.

Thank you.  But I don't want to come across 'cocky' so I will say this.  Sometimes I 'run out' of time and don't get the 'mate' my opponent.  When that happens I get really frustrated and my opponent is relieved.

It depends. Unexpected queen sacs can complicate things.

A few questions: Where do you guy's perform these tasks?
On your desk at work? Kitchen counter? On the livingroom floor or while lying in bed?

Can I watch the next time you guys are in the mood for some fast and furious tactics training? who know's I might learn a trick or two? SurprisedSealed

I usually do it lying on my bed, sometimes I also solve tactics when sitting upright on a chair.

Do you use online resources or books and magazines?

I was fired from work solving them on the job.

Yeah, when you realize there's a queen sac your heart starts pounding... you ask yourself, wait can this really be possible?!

But you have to calm down and weigh your options carefully. The goal is to mate, but sometimes it's just not possible.
