Worthless Support

Why does it take over a week for customer service to reply? They stole a year subscription from a week's trial and despite a money-back guarantee, they sure don't plan to give me anything back. Why is there no number or actual help? An AI telling me to sit on my hands for a month until it runs out -- cool, cool. What's crazy is I'd probably have kept paying for this but the skeezy way of trying to force people into annual subscriptions is disgusting. Makes this leave a nasty taste in my mouth and despise the personalities who tied themselves to your brand. I was brought in by those personalities but clearly need to leave this in the trashbin.

You only joined 6 days ago so it's hard to believe that it has been more than a week since you wrote in to them.

You will get your money back. It's not hard. You just have to fill out a form asking for it on the Support site. Search for “billing” or “refund” and you will find it. If you already did that, it will soon be processed.

In the mean time, why not continue to try out the site? I assure you that over the years I have been on the site, many people have posted on the forum worrying about getting their money back. They all got their money back.

I didn't see the AI message but the site does have a 30 day money back policy for first time subscribers. I think that's all they meant. (That you could continue to try it out and you would still get your money back .)

That isn't true first and foremost -- the online form doesn't exist. You can only cancel your subscription, there's no way to get the refund back. You have to wait for them to call you back/email you in 4 business days -- IE a week.

You’re assuming the system has been designed with your best interests in mind. Spoil er alert: it’s not. The chess.com system is 100% designed to ensure the profitability of chess.com to financial stakeholders. It’s all about the money. Not chess. Chess is just a vehicle to making money. The people running it are only business-focused.

It’s about the Chess. Premium memberships are the method to fund the site operate and grow. If you read blogs/articles from staff or watch any of the the interviews with @erik or @dannyrensch, that is the very much the message. The goal is to grow chess.
