In order for it to dissapear I think you need to play 10 games in every variant, and on bullet blitz and rapid. It doesn't matter if you have played 10.000 blitz games, if you have never played ten KOth games you can't challenge premium members
I doubt it, but then again on this website you never know
For all I know maybe it'll stop happening when I type the letter "q" a thousand times in the forums. Your guess is as good as mine.
No I have actually seen what I'm talking about in the rules, it's not a random guess like yours
Newly created accounts have something called ‘newcomer status’, and a newcomer account can’t challenge titled players or premium players (unless they are friended).
So, if you’ve just created an account and you want to challenge Hikaru to a match, here’s what you need to do!
To remove newcomer status, your account must meet these two requirements:
You must meet both of these! If you create a new account and play 8 games right away, you’ll still have to wait until your account is also 48 hours or more old!
And that’s it! Once those two requirements are met, newcomer status is automatically removed, you can challenge anyone.
There is one more requirement to meet before you can challenge Titled players, and that is to have a low enough RD (rating deviation).
If you haven’t played any games in a while, or if you've never played any games of a certain type, your RD may be too high to challenge a titled player right away. You’ll have to play a few games first, to bring your RD down.
Here are the RD levels required to challenge a Titled player:
You can find out what your RD is for any game type by going to your Stats page!
Okay. Then there's an obvious next question.
Why would that possibly apply to unrated games and challenges?
If I haven't played a rated game in a week, I can't challenge people to unrated games. That's how it works? What a website, huh
I don't know, maybe to prevent them from wasting their time on bad players?
Then they can decline or ignore the challenge. Or, they can edit their own settings, where you can allow players of different ratings to be able to challenge you. Furthermore, all sorts of bad players have low RDs. You can be bad and play a lot.
There isn't any possible good answer to the question of why unrated challenges are affected by RD. There is no reason why I should need to play random opponents in rated games just to lower my RD to be able to challenge my friend to an unrated game.
I don't mean to rant to you, lol. But this website is really getting on my nerves the past two or three years, for many reasons and this is just one of them
Yeah well, it is justified to protect titled players but I think the execution is bad
Rated games I could understand, maybe. Although it still makes little sense because why can't the titled player just decide for himself?
Furthermore titles are nothing incredible, titled players aren't celebrities, and there are other "protected players." I recently tried to challenge a streamer, who is not titled and is considerably lower-rated both online and OTB than I am, and got this message. It was an unrated challenge and the streamer himself primarily plays unrated.
Its not only titled, but premium members
Whatever it is, the idea that there's any justification for it applying to unrated games isn't really defensible imo. There could be a setting for the players themselves to select what RD they're willing to face, and you can always set your incoming challenge settings to whatever range you want. But the idea that I need to play rated games to lower my RD to make an unrated challenge is so chess.com...
Thanks for sending me that above information by the way, makes things a little clearer. I understand what the problem is now, whereas previously I had no idea why this was happening at all.
