@htdavid, we are working on "vs Computer" right now to improve player experience. Erik asked you "... why you are repeatedly starting games and then aborting them?" not to "just ask and forget", but to get your feedback which we'll then use to make "vs Computer" mode better.

Currently humans playing vs computers can 1) switch sides at any moment of the game, 2) get hints, 3) use Analysis (!!!). We supposed that this makes "vs Computer" a relaxed (not stressful) mode and humans won't need to abort games (rage quit them). There is also a Coach Mode.

You answered that you don't play vs people, but it doesn't explain why abort many games vs computer.

Isn't the OPs issue with playing @komodo1 - @komodo20 and not the vs Computer? That is my understanding of @htdavid posts.

Seems weird to flag sportsmanship against the official bot accounts.

What a rant lol, anyway I thought you was leaving- please leave asap. Thank you

As far as I notice, this is the 3rd message in forums and 1 personal note on my profile that you leave me, mocking me and kicking me out...

I don't know who you are, never see you before, and I don't know why you are obsessing with me.

I don't know what is your problem in life, but whatever it is, it is not my fault, go take your nasty anger to someone that deserves it.

Thanks.

Just pointing out that your sulking and attention seeking is childish...........and hilarious.

Thanks.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but as a comment on the ones that I have read, let me say this.

There has been quite a bit of science fiction about machines getting smart and being a threat to humanity and destroying human civilisation. Machine learning has permeated many of the technologies that we use, but the worst we have encountered so far are stupid computers doing stupid things.

Things are going to get stupid before they get smart.

You better hope it doesn't result in bankruptcies, stock market crashes and financial crises, not to mention collapsing bridges, marital breakdowns and bad music.

Even worse . . . you better hope they don't start a war. We already have nuclear weapons. Murphy's Law.

It is not that it is just flagging sportsmanship against Komodo.

It is my understanding that it is actually analyzing Komodo games. It does not know the difference between Komodo and a human account.

And as Komodo have not being updated with the Sportsmanship rules... in theory it is possible that a Komodo account gets restricted to play under bad Sportmanship. This is, of course, in theory... also it is possible that Komodo is playing accordingly to the rules by pure coincidence and so it is fine...

But the option is there, even for the trolls, if they feel like reporting Komodo... Will the system block it and wait for Komodo to file a ticket so a person can look into it?

This is just 2 examples of the many that can happens.

We can add/rename/remove/change buttons/links/policy, but we need to know the reason/motivation of players.

Hi, the only reason why I prefer the Live Computer over the Computer is because the score I get. It kind of help me track how my game is evolving... or devolving... also it helps me to get an idea how my brain is working at that moment...

For instance if I am about to do some work but feeling a bit tired, I can decide to play a game and depending on the results I can then decide if my brain is OK to production, or if very likely I will be making a bunch of blunders and so I better just go for a nap and come back to work latter. (I have indeed found a correlation between the quality of my chess game and the quality of the computer code I produce)

I understand you have not designed the Game to have people track their brain performance, You have design it to have people play with people and if a person can't find a proper opponent at the time then the they can at least play the bot while the "friends" login... or the so...

To give a more detailed answer to Erik, I got this screenshot.

To replicate the problem, I started a game in live chess, then after few moves I decide to navigate away from the game into the forums link that is on the side menu. Then a popup message (I marked it with a red number 1) asked me to confirm. This popup message was scripted into the page by the developers, and they know via Javascript what option I take.

Then notice a gray out button about the middle of the picture that says "Resign" (I marked it with a red number 2)

Accordingly to how the program is written, if I click the blue button "leave" (#1) instead of the gray out button "resign" (#2) I am consider of poor Sportsmanship and need retraining.

Of course you can add the tag to the popup window so it also run the "Resign" code. You can even change the wording from "Leave" to "Resign"... just so the person understands... of course this will not be remedy to people that just close down the window... Just to people that navigates away. But you are asking me how I use the service, and this is how I do.

Your problem is not playing against computer.

You are trying to manipulate your live elo but failed.

It is not just you alone, there are a lot of people who tried to get fake elo with live computer .

Some get successful results. For example, they play 10s ultrabullet against Stockfish and flag server Stockfish. ( I told them it is impossible to flag server Stockfish if the programmer put " move overhead=2000ms").

I am pretty sure there wont be any Neural Network or machine learning AI system against you but it is simply a javascript that deter you using the data from your previous number of aborted games.

Let me see if I understand this...

Accordingly to you I have being trying to manipulate the chess.com elo, since 2012, by doing some... i am not sure i understood the technique you describe.

So what I win from this? and why my ELO is so low then?

drmrboss

Ok, why did n't you resign the game?

Why did you abort multiple live games? You think that you wont lose rating by aborting games?

I dont know whether you manipulated from 600 to 1200 already.

If you play "unrated games" and even if you  abort 1000 times, the system should not warn you.

Erik could have ask me in private.... the fact that he did it in public looked a bit odd.. is he accusing me of cheating or something?

Well there you have it... now someone is straight up taking Erik's question to say that I got caught cheating...

monkeyl10

@htdavid the chess.com computer doesn't use machine learning to see whether or not you have insulted it.

BabYagun

> Erik could have ask me in private...

@htdavid, you created this public forum thread (and also another public thread: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/i-am-leaving-the-website )

A chess.com staff member @Izikoo contacted your in private and helped. But you decided to continue publicly, it is your decision, so why do you expect chess.com staff to answer in private?

You had a problem, @Izikoo helped you, the ticket is resolved from that moment. You can play again. And from that moment it became a public discussion of chess.com policy ("should multiple aborts vs bots be allowed or not") instead of "1 user has some problem which should be solved (preferably privately)". In that public discussion Erik asked you a question. Publicly. It is not an accusation of cheating, it is just a question. You can answer it or ignore. You can answer privately or publicly. And I can lock this forum topic by request of the topic starter too. It is reasonable to close the topic once the issue is resolved, isn't it?

Maybe you trashtalked the computer. Something like «your core is soo slow», «my 386 plays chess better than you, hahaha». Then you were punished

Komodo has really sensitive feelings

i dont understand why would my account be restricted on sportsman policy just for asking a game again with opponent. Dubaimachines dont like it.

totallynotangry

ah. um. i dunno if this has been said yet but aborting several games flags you as a member who is either trolling or a bad sport. the algorithm could have caught this and made a move. That would also explain Erik saying what he did. Answer the question. why do you start and abort so many games? it's a simple short answer question that needs less than 3 sentences.

So I am trolling the computer?

How many times do you have to abort to be penalized? If I accept a game and my opponent doesn't move for a day or two I abort. I can't understand why I should be penalized for that.

Pretty sure aborting daily games doesn't count. That is for Live.

Challenge failed. Your account is restricted for violations of our Sportsmanship Policy. You may directly challenge Friends, or create rated, open challenges using standard time-controls. This restriction will be removed automatically as you play more games with good sportsmanship

Now what to do? Even idk why i am being penalized.. On the other hand, I have few friends to play chess with me and most of them are high rated players. Challenging games suck. It takes longer time. Kindly suggest.

That will explain what can cause the restrictions.

help. I haven't chatted very much or done anything, just played a few games when I see that I have been restricted for violating sportsmanship policy. Is this because of thumbs down spammers or something? help pls

You keep abandoning games.  Learn to resign or don't start games that you aren't going to play a move in at all.
