everybody rated around 2000 in rapid feels like they're worse than blitz 1700s. Is this only me or do i just suck under time pressure?

I'm late but it's because people make less blunders in rapid compared to blitz as there is more time to think.

I also think the rapid ratings on chess.com are too high/overrated. I wonnder if chess.com does a crosscheck now and then with the FIDE ratings. This should be possible as some players do crosslink their FIDE rating.

Because we're bad...

Different rating system, different player pool, different variables at play than OTB. Of course the ratings won’t compare. They are just numbers, play, have fun, improve your game. :)

Some players ( and I'm one of them) do not calculate quickly.  When the clock is ticking, especially if there is no increment, I often make horrendously bad moves because I feel under pressure to play quickly.

Try me let's see If I am worse than 1700's.

Ditto. I can actually play quicker in rapid, though, because there isn't the pressure of the clock in the same way, ironically.

Probably because 10 minute is the default so there are a bunch of weaker players in the pool and that trickles up.

Let me tell you as someone who does not play blitz or rapid but daily, rapid are not the only over rated players here.

Same here. I play closer to my potential in time increments. I’m fast in the openings and end games but very slow in the middle game mainly because I am formulating a plan or on an outlook for tactics.

The added time increments is a life preserver in the end game and against dirty flagging.

I also learned certain time controls suit certain people which is okay. I play too much blitz and bullet that my 15/10 rapid game is hurting because I lull. However, on the other site, they have a rapid 10/10 and I’m a higher 1600 player.

Im going to be bored when OTB opens up.

Hate to admit it but I have the same question.

It’s cause they develop prostate cancer from playing blitz mid match and they have to go into emergency chemo,
