But if you can cancel such pre-move with a right click it gives extra time ?.

There must be a moment that your move is definitive, is that when the other starts playing ? (but then your active in his time).

Me as a beginner also wonders, why was this made?
Maybe i'm wrong on this, hey i'm a newbie a beginner...
Isnt it the idea here to simulate realworld chess games?.

Pre moves could not be played on a real board game I think.
The only way it might be played is by playing the game blind by two players so they dont need the board movements, but listen to eachother spoken moves (and thats still a 1 or 2 sec). So for people playing with a board this seams to me a way of cheating, using technology for a game style they cant realy play.
Okay wel some might be able to play blinded, but still they need time to speak.

Does it ad something to the game rules that isnt realy part of the chess rules ?
I have not read read the word pre-move in my chess books, is this real chess or a variant, or did i have old books ? I think making a move is part of the game too, to me zero time moves makes it less realistic. if people like to make use of extra chess rules (chess360 etc) its ok but people should agree on it before the game starts. And yes i know its beta live chess, its not all official its all just fun, but i came here because I like to play chess by its rules.

As far as i know pre-moves are not part of the game. (or am i wrong on this?)
Ok well there might be a good reason for it, but i dont know it.
And yes to all of you who can make use of it i do believe you are good players.
But two equal high level player cannt play a zero time game of chess.
Thats just not possible, I think to simulate a real game at least 1 sec penalty for a move would be minimal. (or am i again wrong on this too?)

Note i'm not trying to attack people on this subject.
I just wonder if its part of the chess rules.
And as a beginner well i simply dont know.
I had not heard of it before, until very recently here on this site.

And maybe thats why beginners like me get confused when we see something that we dont know of. Blame it on a beginner maybe but you where also once beginners. As a beginner i ask for a bit more explanation of this, why is this created "pre-move" or has it been always part of the game ?

Or has it to do with internet lag delays maybe ?

Mrki

@ PeterArt : that is my point too. Can this premoves be done OTB? If the answer is yes(and i don't see how that is posible, only if we have two boards, each player has one), than ok, rules are rules. But if it can't, why do we have them on the live chess? Also what hapens if a premove is illegal? From wiki: "A common rule used in fast chess tournaments is that if a player makes an illegal move, the player's opponent may point it out and claim a win", is this a rule with premoves?

In my experience w/ one minute blitzkriegs offline and on other sites, I've enjoyed them. Over the years they've helped me to solitify and understand my openings down to a 't' with all that rapid repitition and all.

kingforce

i agree!

Leokid

well, i think that 1min chess shouldn't be regarded, or in other words, placed in the same category as OTB chess. So many other factors are at play here and winning conventionally might not always be the best idea. The goal here is to win, of course, but the tactics through which this is done is completely different from OTB chess. I like to think of it almost as using and training a different part of your brain, even though it's the same game.

I usually win in time... :)

just got accused of cheating again, idiots,

FessMate

i dont understand the idea of 1 min game....... you just loosing time

WanderingWinder

I think that very short games can be helpful for longer, more normal time controls, so long as you don't play these super-short controls too much. Furthermore, it seems to me that even when I pre-move, I end up losing .2-.4ish seconds per turn. This is the big reason that I like going with a very very small time increment.
