It's taken 3 years for me to go from 1500 -> 1600 and I can honestly say it was one of the most painful experiences of my life haha.

1600 - 1750 in every category now. (apart from 960)

Haha congrats!

(though if it was the most painful, you should try chessboxing next :p )

I'm guessing you were a chess player before starting on chess.com though, no? If you were a beginner then congrats that's very impressive. 4 years ago I was an absolute novice.

1600 has just felt like a brick wall for me. Although I just play now, without any theory, learning etc. I used to practise face to face with other players, read books etc

how long have you been playing chess now?...

Avatar of adumbrate

i have played for a long time but i have improved from 1300 strength to 2100 since 2013

progress IS progress.

It appears that you grew frustrated during some of 2014 and 2015.  so perhaps your improvement (in blitz at least) was steeper than you give yourself credit for.

Thank you. I think it's a reflection of what happens when you stop training and just play all the time.

I learnt to play blitz when I was homeless in the library. Had lots of free time! haha. It's good to take a positive skill out of a negative place.

I also went through the painful experience of getting points in bullet. I started at about 1000 then all the way to around 1700. It's tough

Avatar of LLCA123

Very painful and hard process. It takes endurance. 1600+ I consider a good bullet player.

Avatar of RickRenegade

I'm talking about blitz. I don't respect anyones bullet rating because you can swing a couple hundred points on a decent connection and check time burners (like I do) haha.

Avatar of ArgoNavis

Yeah, but who cares about blitz and bullet? They aren't chess.

Avatar of Bilbo21

No offence, but online ratings are meaningless except for acting as a guide to strength.

Avatar of RickRenegade

You just contradicted yourself. If they are a guide to strength, they have meaning.

I didn't.
