Maybe. I thought it was my Blitz rating that went up, but it was my Standard rating.
My time controls are the same for both - ten minutes. I just started adding a 10 second increment. Does that change a 10 minute Blitz game into a 10 minute Standard game? I thought you had to play a minimum of a 15 minute game for it to be considered Standard.
I love increments. It rewards me for adding an extra 10 seconds for thinking before I move.
Over at the ICC server, the 45/45 is very popular. In one match, one of the players actually gained time on the clock, but lost a won game in the end with a big blunder.
In 45/45, you get 45 seconds added to your time after each move!
I just finished a 10/10 game where I made over 50 moves! I also won. I'm sure I could have found a faster way to finish the game, but I was being very careful not to blunder.
Here it is, with my new high in Standard. I like increments. It fits my style of play, as I like to ponder and wonder a bit, just like my rambling posts!

you lost me at time controls. i usually play 1 day per move. hehehehe. seriously, i don't know what the differences are between bullet, blitz, and standard - other than it has to do with time. (since the last time i made a simliar statement about another topic it turned into two pages of people explaining it to me, i would like to just say - i can figure out when i need to, i just have no need so haven't wated my limited brain capacity with it. thanks).
nice game. funny how black moved the queen four times in the opening, but not the one time that they really needed to.

Thank you. Black did waste tempos with his queen. This is a very common occurrence with the under 1000 Live Chess crowd. I'm getting better at attacking those early queen moves, picking up tempos.
I don't see this much in turn-based games at 1400+. These guys know better.

I was at 800 in blitz. After only one game my rating jumped 63 points to 863. How is this possible? It sounds like a lot of points gained for only one game. My opponent was between 800-825 at the time. His rating dropped below 800 after the game.
