Alcohol damages the brain. I would avoid it for that reason alone.

Lanrik

I play chess better while drinking beer other than drinking coffee.

pop in a gummie right before the game starts so by the time it hits, you'll just zone out and probably destroy your opponent no matter how far behind you might be

Darn metric system….

O you aint kiddin.    I'd say pop a couple minimum and 15-20 minutes before the match.   Whoever does that first, report back to us and let us know how it went!    It'd have to be some kind of adventure at least!!!

I recently completed a medical detox and have been sober for 22 days and counting. I'm on anti-craving medication and am now a chronic alcoholic in lifelong recovery.

Alcohol is great if you usually never lose. Makes the opponents chances better.  Otherwise its bad for positive outckme. Period

Simonbelmont88

According to Kramnik, playing drunk makes you lose adaptibility to sudden changes that might appear during the course of the game, drunk players are usually straightforward and too confident.

Easy to make mistakes and not care a bit.  Still fun ghough lol

Kryptomaniacial

Affects short term memory crucial for speed chess..I can play chess with little sleep but not hung over.

rodionrashkolnikov

horrible idea. i toiled to get my rating to 1100 n few days of binging and playing chess n it came down to 700. hehe, everytime i binge my rating dives 300-400 in few days then it takes a while to get it back to what it was before

Chuck639

Try chess krunk, it’s an ever worse idea….

InnerCityMonk

Personally this is a no. Alcohol impairs judgment and reason. Plus, not my cuppa tea. My only exception is that they make shot glass chess sets, which makes it into a drinking game/ stylistic statement. But no, alcohol isn't doping for chess

Kyobir

Two words. Drunk Magnus.
