I would like to know if there is a way to alter the game start. Not 960, but something that would put my wife, kids or a beginner at an advantage. That way we can both play.

When we play on the board I play with a very short timer, like 2 minutes total game time and they get 20. But I still would like to have some pieces removed to give them a better chance. I am not very good but they are very much beginners.

You can play from arbitrary game positions in Daily, starting from a FEN position, but that isn't available in Live.

 

Also, it should be noted that playing people in the same househould should be unrated, if you want to do that.
