Any luck finding 60 minute rapid games?

I never have any takers when I seek a 60 minute or even a 45 minute game. No problem with 30 but I'm looking for longer. Has anyone had any luck finding a longer rapid game? Thanks

I would be more than happy to play longer games with you. How do you even search for them on Chess.com?

There's a club on chess.com called 90 30. They play 90 minute games with a 30 second increment. Members post on the club wall to arrange games. I have no idea how active the club is, though. I'm planning on trying it out but I'm too busy atm.

Just go to clubs and search 90 30.

I agree getting much longer time control games here is tough.

I have absolutely no problem finding games of any length almost instantly. Just not here on Chess.com. This site has become super, super casual friendly and is mainly centered around patzer time controls like a 3/0 clock race. If you want to play real chess, you have to go elsewhere.

Yeah and all those 5 minute games you play on Lichess are sooo much more competitive lol.

For real slow Chess There is Slow Chess.Org at Dan Heisman Learning Center. Do check it out!

Both times I've put out a seek for 45/45 I've gotten opponents pretty quick. If I can keep finding opponents, I'll never play stupid 30/0 again! I hate non increment chess lol.

I know I'm a total noob, but I'm not even sure exactly how increment chess works. Someone care to take the time to educate me?

Increment is the time added on to each players clock when they move. So a 45/45 game is 45 minutes of starting time plus 45 seconds each move.

Sounds simple, but I still have  questions: so as long as you make your move within the increment time, you will never run out of time? And if you make moves quickly you can bank some time? I know this is not so easy in practice, but I'm just wondering.

TY very much for helping a patzer, btw happy.png

Correct. You can never run out of time if you move fast enough. You can move with 1 second left and X increment will get added to your clock. You can also bank more time than you started with. For example, in the 45/45 game I just played my opponent moved really fast and had over 55 minutes on his clock at one point. That's not always a good thing because he moved way to fast and got in trouble fast. He had like 53 minutes when I mated him.

Ok I finally get it, ty very much.

That unfortunately sounds like me, what happened to your opponent. I'm really trying hard to slow down myself atm. I'm playing 30/0 rapid only right now, trying to rid myself of the bad habits of playing too much 5/0 blitz. Which ironically, I gave up because I couldn't stop playing ultra quick and ultra dumb.

In any case, thanks again Eric.

You're welcome. Good choice laying off the blitz. Learn how to play slow chess well, then play blitz if you wish.

Well the 45/45 pool seems to be alive and well at least in my rating range. For the third day in a row, I got a game instantly. Today's opponent had played a 45 game before playing me and played a couple more after our game so there's definitely a long game crowd in the 17-1800 range. Don't know what to tell you Lou, maybe there's just not that many ~1200 players seeking long games.

I just retired.  Time I have and I prefer long time controls.

I'm your huckleberry.

Let me know what we can set up

What does "I'm your huckleberry" mean?  I know it's from Tombstone movie, but I don't really know what it means.

Unfortunately I don't think I'm playing anymore long games on here. Unless it's against a premium member that's been here a long time, or they can pass a background check if you catch my drift.
