Here are some presents for you: . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm not sure if I look in the 'right' place (or just the wrong time on the site), but I mainly see tournaments where there are many players - like 100/200 and even more players - I will never survive such long tournaments - I like it short and snappy - like 10 players - even if these 10 play all, that's fine.

Yes, I know the problem. My first tournament lasted for about 340 days! But there are tournaments with only a few players (I had one with only 3 players and I left it as the last player, but got a medal ). The problem seems to be, that you have to go through the whole list and surch for your favorite tournament. There is no good posibility to filter it. It would be much easier if you could i.e. say only tournaments with unlimited ratings, or tournaments with not more then 12 players, but that is not possible. So you have to go through all the coming tournaments to find your favorite one.

Admin should notice a gap in the software and add a searchable function so you can search for a particular tournament. Also, they can create system tournaments where players can join instead of individuals creating tournaments - not sure if this is the case, just guessing now.

For me thats not really the problem.....Those daily tournaments can be good to practice, study and learn but from a competitive standpoint they arent very interesting. The problem is there are so many of these tournaments and no one tournament is more important than any other one....thus diluting the significance of a trophy.. If they could serve as qualifiers to chess.com championships in various time controls that might be better. But maybe Chess.com has too many members for such a system to work. I wouldnt want to have to play an endless number of qualifying events to get to the championship.

i just use the arenas and the swiss to pick up points from players 200 points lower rated than i am, i entered a daily tournament once and it wasn't really exciting stuff.

yeah theres way too many players on here to allow all the players to participate in a giant tournament. it'd take like 50 preliminary rounds and qualifying rounds and it would probably take years to complete and completely overrun the servers

yeah....sounds like this is probably not the best site for me to play except for training games. I do enjoy the community though.....reading and contributing to the forums along with meeting with different titled players to help me get better.

I totally agree, they don't provide any gain other than practicing because it really isn't an achievement to win those hourly tournaments ://
Probably arena kings but those are tough and I'm not even sure where the information for schedules .etc are

Yes, all anymals are equal..... äh, all tournaments I meant That is not a problem for me. If I join a tournament nevertheless I am a bit more focused than in just a daily game. But what annoys me really is the following fact: If a player who i.e. won a tournament get´s blocked for some reasons (cheating while he plays the tournament for example) his status as winner stays untouched. That is, in my opinion, unbelievable! In any "real" competitions somebody who is disqualified looses all his "medals" and the next playsers go one step higher. That is not thoriticaly question, it happened to me some time ago. I wrote to the stuff - no answer.

if someone wanted to take chess seriously i dont think playing on this website is the best idea. over the board tournaments and chess clubs are a much better route to improving your skill imo (of course Covid stopped all that but once they open again yeah. right now online chess is pretty much the only option)

Yes...I am getting that impression too, although chess clubs and local OTB tournaments can have their drawbacks too. The problem with those can be that you may be playing the same opponents over and over again and that can encourage you to concentrate more on beating a specific opponent than developing general chess skill. I think you probably need both but in either case you need events that you are excited about playing in. That can be tough to find on the internet. The best thing Ive found so far is the 45+45 team league on FICS. Playing those games feels very similar to OTB and is something I get excited about playing in. I prepare just as hard for those games as I did for OTB back when I used to play those. The problem is that there is a long gap in between seasons, so I am kind of looking for some more events to play in that I can get excited about. I think I might try the ICC championship events...they seem interesting. You have to finish in the top 5 in a qualifier to be eligible to play in the finale. The drawback there though is those are mostly blitz events, although there is a G15 championship in the fall. Im really not very good at blitz but maybe that will change as I get better.
There are a lot of tournaments on this site but to be honest I haven't been able to find anything that interests me all that much. What I mean is that there are a lot of tournaments but none of them would be very meaningful to me if I managed to win the tournament....so Im thinking why bother. Or maybe there is something I don't know about. The ICC has official championships for various time controls and you have to qualify in order to play in them. Does chess.com have something similar? I noticed Chess.com recently had a bullet championship for titled players and the players had to qualify to play in the championship. Would have been kind of cool if they made it possible for an amateur to qualify for the qualifier.
