well the admin of chess.com reckon it's around 2200 ELO you can find the post about it if you google "chess.com cheating"
At what rating is cheating the norm?
This is the kind of thing I did not think of and was hoping to hear. I have become a 1503(live standard) just today and have glaring weaknesses. I was wondering how IMs could only be a few hundred higher but that makes sense.

I know what you mean, but I hate the way you worded that question. At no rating should cheating be the norm. If your playing people, and the're cheating all the time; then your not playing chess players. They are probably cheating in half a dozen other endevors in life.

I don't think there is that much cheating in chess. It achieves and gains nothing but requires some continuing effort to cheat.
I also wonder why people get worked up when they lose a game to a much lower rated player than them, yesterday or the day before I lost some live chess games to one guy rated around 900 and another rated a couple hundred points lower than me, these things do happen.

"At what rating is cheating the norm?"
None of them. It becomes less rare at ratings over 2000, but is never "the norm".

I'm pretty sure it's at about 823. Without a doubt players higher than that offer games that I'm pretty sure are "assisted".
Good point ronald, The way it is worded is incorrect and slightly appaling. I tend to speak in negitive terms and should work on that.

Tomorrow, somebody's gonna pick up on that, and 400 people will think your an immoral s.o.b. Or worst yet. They won't read it, and the'll think your a cheater, and never want to play you.

I think there are some people like you who are obsessed with cheating, it gets old after a while. Higher rated players play standard and correspondance chess, so youu are wrong on that count. I think most poeople who are serious players and want to get better do not cheat on this site, what is the point? I dont think there are thousand sof people on here whi use chess engines

I told you Gambit. Its not even midnight, and its already starting. They will be picketing your house when the sun comes up. Sometimes you can just smell where these threads are going. I could be a mod.
lol @ ronald, and Mr rich I am not obsessed (ok maybe a bit) so much as I was interested in when you hit the ceiling so to speak.
I read an article about a bullet player who claimed that he believed himself to be a 2200 on bullet (on this site) if he faced regular people, but by learning and employing anti engine techniques, i.e. win on time, hard for computer positions no tactics he hit 2600 +.
Why all this fuss about "cheating"? If your opponent is computer-assisted then isn't he just working harder at giving you a tough game? If you are an IM and a club player keeps on beating you on chess.com, so what? You can always say, "I think he's computer assisted, let's see if he can do as well in a real match." Playing at chess.com is like doing an exam in your own home, beyond any kind of supervision. That is, cannot be taken too seriously!
I ask this in specific veiw to live standard time controls. I am aware my rating is not that high but I am curious as to when the ceiling is.
Higher rated players and otb chess players often use this site only for blitz and bullet. Still I have noticed the occasional titled player with ratings "only" in the 1700's or 1800's for standard.
I understand the concept of rating pools and rating systems, but wonder if anyone can help me learn the point where you are playing against people with assistance.
To reiterate, I do not believe I have hit that level in the least; But when my fellow players? when?
