The auto-resign is ridiculous. It is like having a second clock. I was taking a long think and then a 30 sec auto-resign came up forcing me to make a move. This is anti-chess.

The long move timer only works in the first 10 moves.https://support.chess.com/article/338-how-does-game-abandonment-work

I would be more understanding of this, but the auto-resign in my particular experience occurred on move 22 of a 10-minute game.

I've also ended up auto resining for typing in the chat for too long. That doesn't make any sense. This feature should just be removed from the platform completely. It serves no purpose that the timer doesn't serve already. I don't know how this forum has been there for months, and yet, auto resign is still a thing. Is there a way to contact the admins more directly?

Yes, same here. I'm playing a 5+5 Arena tournament and I'm having 15 or 20 seconds per move according to that auto-resign feature. It's not connection related, it really is a per move limit. I don't know if the developers play chess theirselves, but the mode 5+5 does not include a per move limit... and furthermore, 20 seconds is a pure joke.
The auto-resign feature only starts to count down when you are disconnected from the live chess server, so if you have stable connection, you can spend as long as you want on the game.
That is not bloody true! It starts when you're fully connected! So what, I'm not allowed to think on my moves anymore? Is that it?!
So, today, I ran into a tricky position on move 8 in an opening I don't know very well. I knew there was a reply but wanted to take my time to figure it out. Playing 3/2 I suddenly got the auto-resign threat, so moved and blundered. I won anyway on time!! But it was very annoying.
Game: 1. e4 e5 2. d4 ed4 3. Qd4 Nc6 4. Qe3 Nf6 5. e5 Ng4 6. Qe4 d5 7.ed6 Be6 8. Ba6!? And now I started to think! But couldn't figure out the right reply quickly enough.

I've recently started playing more live chess and have noticed this also. If I get a position where I need to think or try to remember early on then it forces me to move.
Additionally I've had this happen when I take a longish think later in the game. I'm talking maybe a think of a minute or so in a rapid game, certainly not half the start time.

I totally hate Auto resign. peeps who ever gets disconnected looses and the other one wins
This is equal to cheating. I request to end this problem or playing would be way difficult.

How is this dumb auto-resign working? Just had a game, where I was kicked off the game, I had no connection problems. What's the point in playing rapid games if I cannot use my time mid-game to think about strategy. It also really annoys me to get these auto-resign messages every 20 secs, when I or my opponent thinks about the move. Does somebody know the way to at least turn off these annoying notifications, makes it hard to concentrate while playing.
No it doesn't. That's exatly the issue. Maybe it's only activated for Arena tournaments, I don't know. Effectively, a game 5+5 is no longer 5+5, but "15 sec per move" as you don't even have a chance to think on a move and use your time.
