it very rarly could result in stalemate but if you dont need a queen like in ex. 3 in Matthew11's post, yeah
Perhaps the automatic promotion feature should be specific to each type of game. I'm sure that many people who play here don't always want to promote to queen during standard games (might result in a stalemate, or maybe they want to practice an endgame) and in all likelihood they don't want to manually promote to queen during bullet games.
Something for the people running this site to think about.
