Been playing blitz recently but getting frustrated at losing won games and winning totally lost games on time. Which speed time limit generally gives a realistic game.

Realistic? Rapid games are slower and may help you avoid blunders and find strategies but there is the problem that many people with bad connections play rapid and disappear in the middle of games.
