Another person who doesnt understand that making a post isn't whining. Average day.

Well, threads like this one certainly are whining. If you couldn't tell by everyone else's thoughts and all of the downvotes, they would also agree.

I scrolled through your profile. You've made lots of posts about how much you dislike the social side of the site. This post clearly shows that you don't enjoy even playing unrated chess either.

(In case you don't know what I'm talking about, here you go.)

And of course, this thread.

Another serious question:

Why are you still choosing to spend your time? It's clearly a toll on your mental health, and not something you enjoy doing. Nobody's forcing you to be here, interact with people, or play chess. You are a twenty-year-old woman with a life outside of this site. I don't see how a break wouldn't do you some good.

You also mentioned using this thread as a coping mechanism for letting out your anger on this site. If that's true, I would fully recommend getting some better type of help than lashing out here.

All of this is stern but isn't meant to be rude. Sorry if it came across that way.

Idk making a post about how someone "plays passive" is kinda complaining. And tbh if you didn't want any back lash I don't think you really need to post Abt it or answer every comment with a counter argument.Especially when you blundered multiple times.I think it would've been better to accept that you made a couple mistakes and go on with ur life(not trying to be rude(

If you didn't blunder all youre pieces you wouldnt be mad. Also this isn't a gambit 1...c5 is well known theory.

And you all are showing that you aren't above ripping on someone for anything they say. You keep going on with your "stop complaining" "they can play however they want" "leave the social side" "stop playing chess if it's stressful." You seem to want to change the narrative of fair play, competiveness and sportsmanship to fit your own tactics and play-style, no matter the sport. Someone says a tactic is unfair or too defensive, that's their opinion. And they have the right to express their opinion and to get feedback from others. This post is 1,000x better than most of the other posts and blogs that are made purely for nonsense, filled with nonsense comments.

People can play however they want. Whether it's chess, Risk, basketball, Football, or whatever else. No move someone makes is 'unfair'. People are entitled to play whatever they want to.

The thing about this post (That I'm sure you know but won't admit) is that this post wasn't posted to get advice or feedback, and just to complain about an opening that someone played (That she blundered away, by the way).

You're acting as if not playing by the book is 'Unsportsmanlike'. This was unrated, so maybe whoever she was playing just wanted to try something new. She could have had a perfectly competitive game if she didn't blunder a rook in the opening. I'm not sure why this isn't common knowledge.

Yet you want to complain about this post and offer her "advice" on how she should live when the posts you "live on" on a daily basis are much worse than this. You hate clubs because of the nonsense but you actively participate in other nonsense offered by this site. Kinda hypocritical, but that's my observation and opinion

Avatar of BasixWhiteBoy

You're getting off topic. This is about Lily's post, and me saying that her opponent has the freedom to play whatever they want to, and that she shouldn't complain because she blundered in the opening.

But as for your post, I fully admit to participating in the nonsense in off-topic and elsewhere, including this post. But just like how you're disagreeing with me, it's my right to disagree with her and her post.

What do you disagree with? I told her that she should stop playing if she's going to complain about what people play in an UNRATED game. She's told me, others, and probably you, that she doesn't like the site. Her mental health clearly isn't improving by being here (Yes, she goes through some rough things in real life; Sorry about that, Lils) and posting here as a coping mechanism isn't healthy for anyone, and especially if it isn't enjoyable.

And so, I asked why she sticks around. I'm awaiting my response now.

Any help ive ever tried getting has failed miserably. I am unfixable. I will always be like this lol. I say things like an immature little kid and then I know when to speak up and take something in a mature way. Why? How would I know. But yes everybody angers me because I hate when people are soft, I hate when people are rude myself included I hate when I lose cuz im a mental woman you can call me a sore loser sometimes especially loosing to people who probably don't do anything but sit on their couch all day and were expecting to respect that. Yeah there's a lot wrong with me and im trying to "get help" but yk not everybody is damn cupcakes and rainbows and can handle everything like you yk. It has never been... cupcake and rainbows like it seems it's always been for you.

But see, you are dwelling on the fact that there was a blunder and you are attributing this to the reason why she was upset. That's not the reason, as she stated. She was saying that this person played too defensively and passive. Which was annoying. Yes. People can play any strategy they want, but when 99% of the players try to control the center and push their pieces forward, it's very annoying to meet that 1% who barely move any pieces and sit there waiting for you. So it's best to vent frustrations about a chess game on a chess site. No? Instead of lashing out at others elsewhere. And this is directed at everyone because I have seen a ton of people venting about their games, streaks and trolling during or after games. So they should all leave the site, as you suggest?

And as for why she still uses the site, you should know the answer as well as I do. There are some of us that view the people we interact with as people and not just a ghost on another screen. Meaning we actually invest in them and they are a part of our lives.

Avatar of piratebt99chess

Why would it be annoying if someone doesn't follow principles like control the centre? I like when they dont folow principles because it gives me an advantage. She should be happy her opponent played too passive, it gave her an advantage

Avatar of badger_song

Seriously, does this thread reduce to the OP (and a few others) complaining that an opponent wouldn't play the way that they, the OP wished, and therefore the OP lost??? Thats like a boxer complaining that their opponent wouldn't let themselves be hit. What's next, complaining that your opponent didn't resign after your first move and you lost because you were forced to play out the game? This is a whiny thread, the solution to the OP's problem is learn how to play against people who "turtle-up", not by wringing one's hands over an opponent not being gracious enough to play the moves you wish them to play--which at its heart, is the OP's complaint.

Like what I mean they aren't attacking. They are just doing a gambit and then sitting back waiting for me to make a mistake. That's what's dumb to me. I try to find ways in and this person had opportunities to do so but didn't

I'm considering playing only Chess960 as then there are no opening moves to memorize. Regular chess is so boring.
