Disconnected When Observing Games

I constantly have to hit refresh every few minutes when observing other games because it disconnects from the server. This also happens when I'm playing but leave the computer for a bit to come back to the same message. I don't mind that so much, but I'm assuming it thinks that I'm idled while I'm watching a game that I get disconnected. Is there a way around this?
