The fact that lone knight vs. lone knight is not an automatic draw, and you can lose on time annoys me too! :))
Disconnection Blues
and when you have one pawn vs one knight (or bishop), your opponent just block up you pawn, he doesn't want to take pawn and you lose the game on time.
Just lost another one. I was up a queen for a minor piece and my opponent had absolutely no compensation. Another disconnection, and my opponent won because I "abandoned" the game.

I know that, and accept it, but lone minor piece vs. minor piece (with no pawns) should be an automatic draw.
Maybe this is what happened to an opponent of mine. I blundered, moved a pinned knight, my opponent made a move to take my queen but the bishop stopped on a ridiculous square in between. He resigned immediately and I felt terrible for him. What's worse, if he had explained before resigning I probably would have resigned for him because I really don't care much about my actual rating (I'm more interested in the general trend). But it must blow when you lose on technical grounds.

I know this comes with the territory, but it sure is frustrating having disconnection problems during a game. I just ended up losing two games because of unintentionally dropping pieces on the wrong squares. I know this happens to almost everyone, but I hate to lose games because of technical problems.
