Did you decide not to use it? What was the occasion? (Post the game here so we can see.)

Idk how to post the game here. I can explain a moment wherein I wanted to do en passant at that time. In the midst of the game, my opponent moved g6, Then I moved a pawn at f4, then, my opponent captured my pawn. (xf6) After that, I have a pawn at g5, attempting to do en passant at f6. Seeing this as an illegal move, I moved on with the game. Does my opponent have to move g5 in order for me to capture my opponent's pawn?
Idk how to post the game here. ....
If it was a game on the the site, just post the link. I'm not really following your explanation.

Thank goodness. For a little bit there I was afraid I'd lost what little mind I have left.
Yes, it's up to your opponent if he will eat or not, but in case to case basis if there's an open check with his king or your king. In personal game you can do that, but in chess engine it's automatically lock. I'm planning also to go to school to have proper or professional training in chess. I've learned chess to my cousins only the moves, and some of the opening as well.
