Yes lots of people! I'm playing a tournament with the Dojo club here right now. One game a week of 45+30. They have over 100 players in it!
Does anyone like longer games ?
Thirty minutes each isn't really a long game. Chess clubs where I play otb have times around 1 1/2 hours plus 30-sec bonus to give players a chance to find reasonable moves in the ending even after using up all of their time. This gives you time to find what you think is the best move. (Of course most of us find plenty of poor moves anyway.)
Remember that all the classic GM games we study and enjoy had time controls like forty moves in 2 1/2 hours plus 30 minutes added for each further 10 moves. It takes time to turn out a fine piece of work.
I play mostly 30 min Rapid and 24 hour Daily.
The tournament and league games I used to play years ago were either 48 moves in 2 hours plus 15 minutes to a finish, or 36 moves in ninety minutes plus 15 minutes to a finish.
Hmm long games ,I just played one or two games which were above 15 mins but I have played 25min+10sec game in an OTB tournament .
lol may I just add…. if more had played those better extended setting when I first began this site I would’ve been absolutely delighted. 😂
I actually was extremely surprised that it wasn’t the case, and lmao now I no longer even play standard here because there’s so many using engines. Only 960 for me, and UNrated, because roflmao ratings are a joke! 😆
…but I do LOVE the FFA Arena !
👍

The longer games seem to be far less reactionary. If I have the time and patience for it, 30 minute games are tons of fun
