Does Chess Variant Rating Affect Conventional Rating?

I queued 960, and my 960 blitz rating was the same as my 3|2 blitz rating. If I lose in 960 blitz, does this affect my blitz rating? Or is there a separate rating that appears for chess variants once you play, that is not related to standard mode ratings for the same time controls?

For variants, each of the variants have separate ratings including the normal variant, so it must have been a coincidece for the 960 blitz and 3|2 to be the same
