Draw by repetition?

I just had a game in which I played less than stellar and I thought I could try and at least eke out a draw by repetition, but for some reason live chess wouldnt let me do so, any ideas?
The system doesn't automatically recognize a draw by repetition. You can offer a draw but your opponent doesn't have to take it. I think 50 moves without a capture results in a draw on live chess, but I could be mistaken.
I agree with Futbolstar. I've tried it before and it didn't work until I hit the "offer draw" button. If you do this, it will automatically be a draw, whether or not your opponent accepts it.

Ah thanks a lot! Finally I understand why in one of the games I played here the draw by threefold wasn't automatic.
