I've always played live games with Firefox as of late it seems to be doing quite well.

live chess is in beta. even using firefox you may experience disconnections. patience. live chess will be "fixed" eventually.

It has gotten better in the last month or 2.  I used to get Dc'ed all the time but not so much anymore :)  It still sucks a bit compared to some other live sites but I can tell that it will become BETTER than most if not all other sites!

Maniaa

use the version 3.0.4 of Firfox...good day

Just because you have firefox doesn't guarantee a disconnection free experience. It just meas the problem's not just at your end. The problem could be inbetween; like your internet service provider. They only have to drop it for a short period of time (the timeout value Erik has set on Windows Server or Apache) for it to DC. Suffice it to say that it only has to be a few milliseconds in order for it to disconnect you; seeing as it's Live and SHOULD be fluid.

Given the number of complaints on this issue, it seems likely a programming/coding glitch/situation that triggers a connection break.  Way too many complaints to be isolated or random unless an amazingly high percentage of users just have s... connection speed.  If that is the case, this site would put an extremely heavy load on those users.

I never had such timeout issue with any other web sites...so no question of internet provider issue.  I understand the Internet connection is highly dependable!!!

I also have disconnection issues only on this site.  It usually happens when I am playing slow chess when someone is thinking for a long time or the computer is otherwise idle.   It is REALLY annoying when you play long chess, because you may have just sunk 30 or 45 minutes into a really good game and before you can conclude it it is ended.   It has also negatively affected my rating when I lose games that were won because of disconnection.

Suggestion:  When a player gets disconnected instead of automatically declaring it a loss it should offer the other player an option.  Either they can A) declare it a loss or B) pause the game and allow it to resume later if the other player reconnects.   This would prevent people from using intentional disconnection to weasel out of a loss, but would also allow good games stopped in the middle to be finished.

Your suggestions are practicable and worthy consideration from Chess.com administration.

I know some other chess sites does this...example...pause the game or aborted...instead of loosing rating...

I appreciate your suggestion and would like the administration to consider.
