Flashing Clock and Disconnect

Happens to me too. Maybe once every 6 games or so. Very frustrating. I’ve had it likely happen in reverse too - in a close game or maybe I’m losing by a little and the other guy gets disconnected. Can’t imagine an opponent resigning mid game when they’ve got a decent chance of winning.

Just recently, I was playing against an 1800+ rated player and I had over one minute and a half left on my clock, while he only had just under one minute. Next thing you know, flashing clocks and not able to move, then after what seems like forever, game starts back and I've lost on time, while his clock is at over one minute. All I have to say is,...not my connection!

Had the game won, even though I only had 46 seconds left on the clock and he had 1:06. My position on the board, was unstoppable by him, so guess what he resorts to??? Yep, you guessed it....Flashing Clocks....not once, but twice!  Avoid playing this guy (GanGTer1014)

Why has this not been sorted by now?  And why are there not messages or emails or posts, clearly visible, from chess.com explaining the reason for the problem and what you can do about it?  It just happened to me in a very engrossing game which i was slightly losing, but had chances to come back. I was also well up on time.  Both clocks started flashing and I waited for the game to resume  only to be hit with a message  " game abandoned, white won"  . I was black!   Why did that happen and why is there not some prominent guidance, which reading this thread there should be.  Very disappointing service.  Come on guys!

MintManCost

why have they not fixed this

The same thing has happen to me on more than one occasion, where I would be winning in a rated game and then the clock starts flashing and minutes later, It will show that I lost the game?!!! I think that some players here know how to cheat the system, cheat the game just to void losing a rated game!  "Way to go guys" to those who will stump so low just avoid losing a  game!

I thought it is to do with chess.com servers or system. I can't imagine how other players can make this happen?? It happened to me about 3 or 4 times a few months ago but its not happened to me in at least 2 months.

I think there is player involvement, its just too consequential for it to only happen when your on the verge of winning! Wish the administer of Chess.com could investigate this to see if some players or cheating via a loop hole they found within this site.

this issue is so annoying, impossible to play bullets.

Since we so many of us have experienced this flashing clock when we are winning and never when we are losing, why don't we post the username of the opponent here. Who knows, maybe if the same usernames of opponents appears here a few times, just maybe the administers of Chess.com might do their own little investigation of said users.

Just played this very low rated player who aborted the game on me and the funny thing about it was, I wasn't giving any points for his abandonment and I was disconnected from not only that game, but I couldn't click the + button to move on to another game.  Avoid this player, of the many more to be added!

My game was aborted too and the other player was not losing. I think it was the server. even i saw a message about it.

pfarkas44

me too, i was winning and cant play another game

maclyrio

the same with me

mediumrob

If this error appears and your personal internet connection is working, it usually means a system-wide chess.com error.... May have to come back later

downundermick

same here, winning, aborted, can't play another game. says my internet is disconnected, but that's wrong!

pfarkas44

damn, it was a great game too

I had the same issue in my last 2 bullet games. I still managed to win a game I've just played after all of a sudden 30 seconds on my clock had vanished into thin air (after flashing clocks).

The previous game, a few days ago, I lost a bullet endgame on time that I was totally winning. All of a sudden my opponent's time is counting down and gets to zero. I get the message the game will auto-resign. Then I see that not my opponent but I have lost on time.
When I look at the position now, I still have 27 seconds on my clock at my final position. His final move only appeared on my screen after I'd already lost. I immediately sent a message to chess.com without response...

I too, always send a report after such happenings during a game, but, to no avail. I believe that it's a problem, that chess.com refuses to admit to, Even though it's become quite obvious that their website has become prone to program users. More so than they'd ever imagined it could be. When this site first started off in beta stage, I can admit that it was the chess site to play on, due to program usury was impossible, but not too long after they had all of the bugs worked out in beta and launched what we see today, the program users were hard at work, testing their programs out. It's getting as bad as pogo.com is with program users.
