Game Abandonment Request

Sometimes, when a player is about to lose, they quit the app without resigning, and chess.com servers fail to recognize this behavior. This can be very frustrating because you end up having to wait for the opponent's time to run out. My suggestion is to add an 'abandonment' request button, similar to the one for requesting a draw. The logic is simple: once a player sends the request, the other player will have 60 seconds to either make a move or decline the request. If they don't, the match will be considered abandoned.

Yes this is actually a good idea.

It frustrates me when opponents are losing, they just quit games.

But ....

if i have a hard problem with the position and need to think a few minutes about it, i would not want my thoughts disturbed by an 'Abandonment Request'.

It also opens the possibility to spam your opponent with endless abandonment requests.

You have a cooldown on requests obviously.

Seems a good idea to me. Just to clarify, this applies presumably to opponents who don't actually close the app, but just "walk away" leaving the clock ticking. If they actually close the app, then the system counts them down for 60 sec anyway before declaring their game lost.

Actually I have a request there: when someone closes the app, rather than them automatically losing, I (the remaining player) would like the choice of whether to claim victory by default, or declare a draw. There have been many games I've played where my opponent closed the app in a reasonably balanced position. In this situation I don't like to claim a victory, but it hurts being forced to resign as the alternative.

No many time game just not detect force closing app and wait for opponent's time to over, your request seems nice too. This feature is implemented on Lichess and would be loved to see on chess.com.
