Why is this allowed and how do we prevent it? Really annoying and seems unfair.

Your opponent is on vacation, they have 5 weeks left according to the game info. Premium members have 3 months of vacation time as part of the package. Just chill, play on in your other games and they will continue this game in due course. The position on the board won't change.
