Getting the double rating points

Hi all,

I am not familiar with many options on this site, is there a possiblity to get a double of your rating points by winning a game? For example a guy is rated 2535, wins against 2500 and gets +18 rating points (i will normally receive +9 in this situation)

Could you tell me if there is such an option on this site, please? Thanks in advance

Changes in rating depend on the difference between the two player's ratings and also the Glicko RD reflecting the statistical accuracy of the ratings.

I know this, thanks. But in the situation indicated above - (2535 winning against 2500), the difference is not that high and i will always get +9 points for a win. I saw a guy getting +18 points  - the double one will normally receive (and he receives the double of "normal points" in all of his games)

How is this possible, is this an option activated somehow?

There is no double points option. Large rating changes must reflect the Glicko RD.

Tell us who you saw getting larger than normal adjustments.

If your rating is far lower than 2500, I mean like 1000 points lower, then you will get far more points for winning and draws.

Probably the player is in his/her initial stages of playing on Chess.com or have returned from a long break. In such circumstances the RD of the player will be high, so the win/loss rating changes will be of a larger value than players who play regularly. This applies even if the player's rating is higher than the opponent's.
