What in the world are you going on about? I just checked the game NOTHING ilegal was played. You got mated fair and square- look over it and verify your claim. You can see your game record in live games page.
Huge Bug or known Cheat

Are you talking about this game? Your opponents Queen was never on f5, which move are you talking about?
Just played my first game on this site... very disappointed by the game mechanics... my opponent was able to take his queen on F5 which was in jeapordy of being taken by my bishop and place it at A8.. clearly not possible under real chess rules... and in return was able to use it as a queen to mate me... unacceptable.
This is really strange, because that's simply not true. I can only guess that you made false accusations for fun, and (being new to this site) didn't realize that all your games are recorded and so whatever you say could be verified.
I don't want to jump to conclusions though, so maybe you could clarify. Did your kid grab hold of your account and posted a random message? What happened here?
Just love the fact of instead asking what happened if you dont understand my first post you guys go off and think I dont know what I am talking about... sure I lose games and I win games, but so far I have had nothing but graphical mechanical problems with this site... sure he was able to checkmate me with what looked like legal moves, but on my web browser his queen went to A8 from F6.. ( Excuse me for the typo , I said F5... oooohhh big deal... give a guy a break!) So yes, I could not move my own pieces.. they would go to a8 as well... or his pieces would disappear even though I know they would be there... but I wouldnt be able to take them if need be... so yes, there is a problem with the browser... and it would be nice to see real comments rather than " what, what cheating... I dont see nothing...".. why would someone want to waste thier time coming on here for the first time just to bitch about something for no reason... aka, maybe there is a REAL problem...

Some of the most frequent topics on this site are about people blaming live chess going wrong on their opponents cheating.
When you logged into live chess there was a clear message saying that there are problems. Live chess is currently being completely rewritten and the problems are nothing to do with cheating.
Ok, did not see that there was a posted message on the site that there was problems... well, maybe then those people would need to back off then and realize I did not know that it was a " Known" bug in the system.. hmmm, therego my post Huge Bug or known cheat???? Being new to the site all I ever wanted to do was to get back into playing chess... not work out web site issues or have words with people who did not want to hear that the king has no clothes...thank you atomichicken for pointing this out to me...
I wasnt accusing anyone of cheating... I was asking, maybe in the wrong way, if this problem was already know... dang you people need to chill out...

Yeah, sorry you're right. It just happens so often I'm almost expecting it now.

Quoting my own words:
"maybe you could clarify. Did your kid grab hold of your account and posted a random message? What happened here?"
Some of what I said was more cynical, but ultimately my point was: we are confused, clarify a bit, just what exactly happened? But now you did, so that's good.

We're confused for at least these reasons:
The queen never moved to a8
Instead of black moving his queen to avoid your Bishop attack, he just captured the bishop with the pawn.

what browser are you using? that is certainly unexpected. that is NOT a known bug to have pieces glitch out like that.

I may know what he is talking about. I played on chess.com on a wii internet browser (on the TV) some time ago, only it was nigh impossible to play because almost any time I tried to move a piece, as soon as I let go of the piece it would fly to the A8 square (that is, the top left square, some H1 if I am black). The piece would, I imagine, be recorded on chess.com as being in a legal position, but on my screen it would sit in that top left corner.
So I definitely believe Tanagerman.

I had a bermuda hole square in one of my live chess games. The square was g4. For some reason after I (as black) played Bg4 I couldn't see the bishop. Then my opponent played h3, and I couldn't move the bishop away. So he then played on his next move hxg4, and I [stupidly] recaptured with Nxg4. Then my knight is sitting invisible. My opponent doesn't know this though and it takes a good dozen moves before he threatens that piece. Of course I can't move it away and I've realized that I shouldn't be defending it at all.
I did win on time.

When I tried playing with Opera, mine or opponents pieces were placed in the corner (a8) or they have disappeared at some of the moves. This is only the problem when it happens to your own pieces, because you can't use them again. For example, I had to resign this game, because my queen disappeared. I was black and it was my move:
I am using Safari now and there haven't been any problems yet, except the disconnections. I also tried using Internet Explorer and there were some similiar bugs as those with Opera. So I guess the programs mentioned in that warning message actually work better.

Try live chess with Opera or Ephiphany. The pieces will disappear. If you remember where they were, you can still play for a while as if it was a blindfold game.
He didn't say, but I wonder if this was a 'live chess' problem or a 'turn based' problem?
I am using current edition of firefox3 and had similar 'black holes' appear on my board, but only for my own pieces. my opponent looked like he had 4 knights, and two queens for a while, at the same time I could not see either of my knights or my own queen at all. I had to remember where I put them, and play on - fortunately, he resigned after 13 moves of this, but by then, the only queen or knights he had left were 'ghosts' and not really there. and I got screenshot showing the board at that point, along with looking into the 'archive' log of the game - where the position showed clearly and there was no evidence of any problem.
I sent this game to Erik in the form of screenshots - to show him what it was doing. Suggest you take screenshots to validate any future occurrences... but ALL SHOULD BE FIXED with the advent of the NEW Live chess - coming sometime (when? who knows? ) but sometime in the future.
