Humiliation

Don't think of your losses as a reflection on you - they aren't. If you lose one, try again. This is a lot easier if you are a Blitz player, because moving on to the next game is so fast, so simple. We go up, we go down. Happens to everyone. The goal for me is to try and *gradually* raise my *average* ELO over time, not get too caught up in the heat of the moment. And regarding the reasons for losing - ALL OF THE ABOVE re: what you said, for tiredness and distraction are indeed major causes of missed games. Better lifetstyle can help but it also helps to study regularly, both your own games and the games of master-level players. Above all else I would say experience is the biggest factor for me after 10 years and 140,000+ games here is simply experience...the more you play, the more you learn. Having said all this, I still lose - a LOT. But do I care? Yes but not nearly as much as I used to. But I'll grant you that sometimes this is easier said than done....
