I have no problems at all, never get booted off and do not have FoxFire installed.
Guess I'm just lucky as in the past that was not the case. I was under the impression those problems were resolved.
Hope it gets sorted out for ya soon.

i have the same problem. I hate it. It seems like everytime I'm about to win a game; I get disconnected!
this is the most painful part of my life (fingers crossed!). seriously. we know, and we're sorry. it has to do with a number of factors (computer speed, internet connection, browser), but we need to just lower the bar of what is required to play live chess. we hope to have it fixed within 90 days :)
Erik,
We all Know that you are working hard on these issues. I usually play on FICS and Chesscube knowing that Chess.com still have some issues under work. But every now and then I am tempted to use Chess.com since I am already logged in and I sincerely like the design. Another easier to fix issue is that I have to use a medium sized boad singe the larger one is too big and I end up playing unable to look at the clock. I tried everything, F11, etc but no set up seems to fix this.
Anyway keep on with the hard work!
Before becoming a premium member, I used to disconnect a lot. Since then, I disconnect maybe once every 20 hours of live chess play, and I use Internet Explorer.
But remember: my case is just a coincidence. Paying does not help with disconnects, and I've just been lucky.
Yeah, it used to happen from time to time but lately it seems to happen more often like the last three games I played it is frustrating especially when you have a nice checkmate in 5. If you could reconnect yourself to the game once you disconnect it would reduce the problem a lot except maybe for the quick game where a couple seconds can change a lot.
When I start trying live chess, I get all my games disconnected (and consequently regarded as lost even though none of them in losing position which is frustating). I suspect it is because I was using unreliable internet connection. Then I try live chess using reliable internet connection. The result is OK. Using reliable internet connection, I got disconnected only once and that too was because the network cable was inadvertently unplugged.
i use firefox and am usually only dc'd about 4-6 times a day. that is a very good number considering the hours i spend on this amazing site. i just learn to live with the dc's and concentrating on all the other cool stuff on the site, instead of brooding over the minor flaws in it. hope everyone elses dc's decrease.
Is there anything an individual can do to help prevent being disconnected. I use FF here but other than that is there anything that would help? Such as closing all other open applications???
I have suffered from the same frustration in the past (and from time-to-time still). One thing I did was ensure my residential gateway was properly configured. The other tip that seems to work is to click on the "Friends" tab in live chess. The reason being is there is less activity on this tab than in the others (Seeks, Graph or Games). Lastly, I used to get d/c while playing from home, but not as often when I'm at a coffee shop. Who knows???
It is not once or twice but every time I try to play a single game in live chess I got disconnected. I am using FF etc, but the experience is terrible.
I am sure that a stable live chess would compell more people to become a paying member. But so far so bad......
