I can't find FIDE rated players to get my own FIDE rating

I have been unable to find any FIDE rated players/tournaments to get a FIDE rating. To get a FIDE rating, you must go against someone who already has a rating. I can't do this, because in the area I live at, there is nobody here who has an official rating, and there are no FIDE tournaments. I'm wondering if there is a work around for this. Also, I don't know if this would help find an answer or not, but I live in West Virginia. Thanks.

There's no workaround. You'll likely need to travel to find FIDE rated events.

Avo you need to get a bit better first. because the minimum fide rating you can get is 1000 and it's definitely much more difficult than a 1000 chess.com because of the different elo calculation formula and players pool. besides, what's the point of getting a very low rating which is good for nothing.

There are always FIDE rated tournament in Philadelphia and DC area. You just have to travel. It could be quite expensive. Check http://chesstour.com for upcoming FIDE rated tournament near you. Good luck.
