I dropped from 700 elo down to 600 elo and it keeps on declining

My chess elo has been declining and as of today it is still declining. About a week ago it was at 750 but it has started declining and is now currently ad of when this is posted below 650. What’s surprising is my puzzle elo has actually been increasing faster and is currently above 1500

It is completely normal to experience 100 point swings in ratings.

Same here. Was at 1300 ELO and now I’m 700. Puzzles 🧩 at 1300

I'm glad you shared that, Bethsaida; because I had a blitz rating of over 1,000 (I've been a member here for over 6 years, and the 1,000 rating is not a beginning rate that's given when one opens an account -- I worked my way up to that rating). After being a year or two away from the site (as I played other strategy games on other sites), I came back a year or so -- and then my 1,000 rating started dropping. It's not only because I've been blundering a lot (because I've gotten used to not looking at the entire board when I make a move) BUT ALSO my dysfunctional mouse would move pieces to wrong squares all the time. Nonetheless, (at this moment) it's now below 600. But I feel a lot better now that I've read your post because now I don't feel so alone!

Also I think the average 1000 elo player is stronger now than a decade ago, so expect some difficulties. Not by much but by some degree.

And this opinion is based on what? Most likely the opposite is true, rating inflation is quite obvious.
