This issue happens with me all the time as well.   Refreshing the page just kicks you out of the game immediately (and cards a LOSS).

There should be a UDP-based signal a player can send to the chess.com server for a status update (who's move is it?  what is the current board?  is my timer close (within a few seconds) to the correct time?).  If a discrepancy is found, the player can then request a FULL update and re-connect to the session without penalty.

that is in no way true. I have reloaded multiple times, and I have reconnected without issue.

This is very true.  Each and every single time I have RELOADED the page or done any other possible re-fresh function I know of, I get tossed out of the game like 3-day-old salad.   There is absolutely no way for me to re-load a stale connection to a game.

I literally just CLOSED a game, and reopened chess.com, clicked the play button, and my game was still connected

PineappleMcPineapple

I closed the page, opened chess.com, clicked play, clicked play online, and I was still in the game. Also, I saw your other post, you wont get anywhere with that kind of arrogance, practice first, beat magnus carlsen, then you can brag.

I'm glad it works so well for you, individually.  I'm betting you're STAFF given you know of my other posts.  Either way, there are no less than 3 of us in this thread alone that have experienced a similar issue; you're just trying to portend that it is a WE issue not a chess.com issue.  I get that, Mr. McPineapple.   Cult of V3 is gonna cult---never going to acknowledge that we users out in the sticks have issues you'll never understand.

PineappleMcPineapple

Your other post was literally on the front page of the forums a few hours ago, so yeah, I know of your other post. Anyways, I have talked to my chess club, where 11/15 people use chess.com, we all have reloaded the page/closed and rejoined at some point, and every time, it has worked. I was once playing on data, still worked, even with a terrible connection.

Great, McStaffer.  Good for you and your team.  Keep defending the site, I'm sure Erik will reward your phenomenal piety.

Check my profile, its obvious im not a staff account.

Come on.. you know full well Staff have multiple accounts here.  You took direct offense at my charges.  Your diction also confirms it.  Stop trying to pretend you're just Bruce Wayne.  wink.png

PineappleMcPineapple

lmao, you serious? It would be awesome if I was a staff, so I could mute trolls like you, but nope, I'm not one.

LongKnoll

From my memory the staff are very friendly though maybe don't consider all the feedback they get? I heard particularly that a lot of people went on about Daily and this was ignored?

There is a group of groupies here I call "Cult of V3".  They are the Yes-Men of anything Erik says or wants to do & very rarely, if ever, push back or challenge his plans.  Some may all that the Employer / Employee relationship; I call it the Yes-Men club.  I've never been in a work environment where I felt like I couldn't give critique to some of my boss's plans.  Here, the Cult of V3 seems utterly incapable or unwilling to do so.

I have Mr. Pineapple pegged to 1 of ~3-4 staffers here---a little more diction out of him/her and I'll have it narrowed further.  When they want to be confrontational with the User Base, they have to throw on the mask and cape and work under another profile otherwise it's worse when they appear to speak for the site.  @Martin_Stahl has a history of stepping in it, and he's just a Moderator who often puts on a show that he speaks with authority when he really has none.

We had a huge fiasco when the site wanted to upgrade from version 2 to version 3 many years back now.  The STAFF got so frustrated trying to defend V3 from all the flak we were giving the Dev Team at the time (and they had truly earned it), they simply started Closing all the forum threads they didn't like.

Typically, they move antagonistic threads like this one to the Off-Topic area and let it simmer until they can officially take it out to the slaughter yards for final cremation.

E.g., https://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/because-vs3-is-being-forced-on-us2 (since removed / deleted by STAFF)

There were many other such threads ~2014-2016 when this whole brand new platform called v3 came about and many who liked the site when it just worked wanted an option to stay with v2.  Now, I in work in IT; I know how bloody hard it would be to maintain a system with 2 separate, yet incompatible interfaces.  But Erik, at the time, was surrounded by these Yes Men, the Cult of V3, who were whispering sweet-nothings in his ears 24 hours a day.  Rather than give him credible, rational critique of the situation, they continued to hush over the nay-sayers such as I and others as a group of malcontents.

That ire lingers to this day.  The Cult of V3 never got over the group of Users who wanted constructive updates and upgrades; not what V3 represented then and represents now.  These guys continue the mantra of contempt for most of the User Base.

lfPatriotGames

V3 is why I don't play chess on this site anymore. It just got so difficult, it wasn't worth it.

IMKeto

Staff issues the same ole same ole excuse.  But why is it that i can play chess on any other site with out issue?  But when i did play here it was issue after issue?

"Clearing cache and trying a different browser" are nothing but excuses when the only site with issues is this site.

PineappleMcPineapple

cult of v3? my acccount was created in 2020 lmao, ive never heard of that till today

Spacebux

lmao - Lets make another one (another account)

It's going to get worse when they switch to "Play" and kill "Live".

LongKnoll

Deary me! There's a cult of V3. It's run by Erik says the man drinking tea.

This Erik has all of the players in his pocket

While everyone's stuck in the depths of the cotton

Somebody's pegged to four staff, it's just rotten

'Cause liking this website is not such a crime

We're not all staff. Just having a great time!

Whate'er.

LongKnoll

O' course you might well be right about the staff because you've been here a lot longer than I have. I haven't the foggiest. But I do like this website and I'm not a member of staff! I've been going on about Automate at them for some time.
