I have 100mb fibre optic speed internet, a brand new 16gb ram computer, no programs loaded etc

Yet I still get red bar and glitches and jittering with the 1 min games

aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh does my fucking head in

Sounds very unusual. Do you have the same upload throughput as download with that fibre connection?

Everyone has this problem, I have it, and all my opponents leave up to 10 times in a chess game. I think it is a problem with the server.

I have the same problem.

I'd like to blame the adverts loading, that slows it down. But used to do the same when I was a paying member for like a year.

I have 30mg upload speed and 70+download speed (one of the fastest in the world).

That's why when I use profanities, I also use a built-in time lag, like a Japanese movie.        We now interupt this ad for some pleasant profanities--$^#&(*@%^#$&

70+download speed (one of the fastest in the world).      You got one of the fastest in the world to play blitz, and 1 min games??         hahahahahahahahahahahaha   Let me sell you the "new" V3 for $150.  You'll cream your opponents in 5 secs.  YOU WASTE AN ENTIRE MINUTE ON A WHOLE GAME???   hahahahahahahahahaha   I can have 12 games in 60 secs.  Its called NASCAR chess.   Barnes & Noble is marketing a "new" kindle for Christmas. It allows you to read "War & Peace"  in 3 secsSurprised

You may have a really fast connection but it's going to be as slow as the slowest link(s) between you and the chess.com server. Typically, traffic between a PC and a server somewhere else in the world goes through multiple paths to reach its destination. A slow down in any of those paths can bring you to a crawl. Also, if you're connected wirelessly at your home then you're wasting all that bandwidth because, regardless what anyone tells you, wireless is dog slow compared to a wired connection.

The chess.com connection to the internet could also be slow or just choked with too many connections.

edit: you also have to account for anything on your PC that may be slowing down traffic, like streaming audio/video, firewalls, antivirus, updaters, etc.
