Lag

I just hate lag! (or cheats)

Earlier today, I faced someone, who had a good connection, and so did I, (green bars). But, when he was in time trouble, at 15 sec, whenever he moved, his time increased by 3-5 sec, and MY time was reduced!

This is unfair, as I was deprived of a win. I hope chess.com staff reads this.

Yes, it was.

Well, the game did have a 3 second increment...

No, but MY time was reduced, and his time increased.

Sounds like you took more than three seconds per move while he took less.

No, as the end happened, I had about 1 min, or so, and whenever I made a move, my time reduced by 3 sec, AS i made my move.

There are ways to manipulate lag, although playing with an increment is said to mitigate any advantage gained through such a nefarious practice. Lag manipulation is hard to prove, and of marginal benefit.

I sometimes suspect that implementation of premove on Chess.com mimics lag. Games can really slow down when both players are using premove, when the opposite should be the result.

Actually chess.com uses "anti-lag technology" (timestamps: really tricky stuff), so cheating based on lag is nigh impossible.

There may well be ways to manipulate lag, but the sophistication involved makes it exceedingly unlikely that it's actually being done.

By which, of course, I mean that in order to do it you have to be drinking a martini whilst extending your pinky finger straight out.
