Letting the time run out to forfeit

It is a big pet peeve of mine when players just let the time run out instead of resigning. I have to wait for five mintues to play another game. I've even had a guy in a forfeitable situation make a movie four minutes later, and I wasn't watching my computer, and almost ran out of time myself and lost. I just experienced the worst bad loser yet, BigPapaPhin who actually told me with five minutes on the clock:

BigPapaPhin: WHEN MY TIME RUNS OUT YOU WIN

BigPapaPhin: GONE TO WATCH BASKETBALL

BigPapaPhin: C YA

danielwinn: what the hell, just resign

It would actually take less effort to resign than to type all that. How obnoxious and passive aggressive.

I like watching basketball too, but what an a$$hole. Don't let this be you, and maybe people could block Big Papa Phin or something? I'm about to, I'm sure it won't be significant, but I am tired of encountering these poor sports.

In addition, I think that it is polite to play out the game when you are in a force mate. Instead of resigning one move before checkmate. (Which was actually the position Big Papa Phin was in.) It's no big deal, I just think it's a nice thing to do, since it is more satisfactory- at least for me- when you get to complete the checkmate.

Any thoughts on the issue? Similar Experiences?

The person was a quite a jerk. I have had that happen (nothing said though) so many times that I assume it may happen.

Its happening to me right now in a long game. 42 min left. There should be a forum to list these jerks so they can be avoided.

On one of my first games here someone did that with >5 min left. It really discouraged me from playing on this site anymore.
