Lost by Abandonment while still playing?

I was doing a 15 10 unrated, and made about seven moves, and, having "grown up" on long chess, started a bit of "too fancy calculations" [engine later remarked two of my choices would have been close to the same worth, one was a flat out blunder], and then the server simply declared the game lost after about 7 minutes of thought!

Is there an implicit mathematical number of minutes to stay under in a game? What about Classical?

[Ps How do you change a typo in the topic?]

They should really give you a warning for this. I would have "abandoned" many 30+5 games at the club most likely.
