Disabling chat does not damage anyone either. Igor disable chat in ten minutes too. He hate people, why chat with them?

Igor I know that you hate people, that is why I hired you. Why have you not procured breakfast for me? The service has declined greatly since I abandoned nightly floggings.

ok that is hilarious!

See? The peasants love me. Restore the aristocracy!

Dracula and Igor:  If you have not seen the New Zealand made movie “What We Do In The Shadows,” it’s a must. One of the best movies stumbled upon of late.  Beyond hysterical.  I think there’s now a series in the making.  But the movie, OMDebil!  I’ve turned a few people onto it that have watched it ten times already.

Recently someone asked me during play, “Watching the impeachment?”  As a bonafide political junkie I fell on the floor.  I didn’t respond. Willard and I are now fun friends.

But about a week ago I got my first WTeffer. Every time I made a move, they yawn or zzz emojied me.  Every time. It was downright hysterical.  Beat him.  My end message:  “Perhaps you yawned a bit too many times.”  We are now friends.  I compliment people when they shred my *ss.  I also say how hard it was and how freaked I was if I barely won and compliment their style and tactics.  The weird ones are the chatters that x the chat after chatting you up and then win or lose. I have no desire to have a big convo. But it’s nice to play some of the same people occasionally.  Seriously, it’s not like any of us are Bobby Fisher here.

Fischer. Ok. I’m leaving now.

Also my skills seem to be waning rather than waxing. No clue on that phenom.

No offence, but disabling the chat  is useful for kids that might play on this site, because if you 'wait until someone starts annoying you to block the chat' the person might send you a rude or vulgar message, then it is too late to unsee it. Especially if the user is a child and their opponent is an adult. I don't mean to be such a pessimist, but you make the point of there being a lot of good people on this site, but for every 'good' person, there is one predator and/or bad person. I am just trying to make a point, and I don't mean for my comment to offend you or anyone else.

I have something to add onto this thread- some people who play on chess.com have restrictive parents who don’t want their kids speaking to or being spoken to by other people. So the next time you see somebody disable the chat, don’t immediately get frustrated. Even if you do mean good intentions. Sometimes it’s not in anybody’s control

I don't like chatting during a game on chess but I always take a "gg " towards the end. chatting while playing chess is distracting.

In this world of Anonymous Youtube comments etc, people just don't give a danm about being nice to a stranger. They do not see the benefit of  "everyone contribute to makingn the world nice".
I noticed in Asia while driving they are rude. Example:
In Europe you flash light to say "please go first"
In Asia they flash light to say " Don't you dare I won't stop"

Human people tend to become rude when we are in a mass population. Like on internet.
It like "everyone is on his own" make your mark, stand your ground.
It's sad.

And when a group of people are blocking the middle of the market alley guess who? LOL
I am not racist okey I'm african, we are also target. But so;e cultural caracters are real.
THe caracter of internet, the MAIN ONE is an anonymous activity. No accountabilibily.
Be rude and get away with it.
On the street you might get a remark and lose face or get a slap, but not on internet.
That is what I mean.
It's a fact. Cannot be wrong

Your point about the internet and how people behave on the platform due to anonymity is true. But still there's nothing you got to prove that Asians are rude , (or people are more rude in real life when in large populations)

OK I apologize for that remark. Let's say they have different way to behave when it's crownded than for example Europe. I am French I lived 13 years in THailand.
The point was not about that anyway I want to talk about anonymous internet. Sometimews I am for and sometimes I am against.

Just like polluting and wasting energy, what people do at home we cannot control and some people are just acting very disrespectfully to everyone else.

Sorry for Asia. I love Asia, ;y wife and son are Asian...
