My First Win
With a handy helping of nepotism I did eke out a win. It is comforting to have an uncle in high places. All my other uncles have passed away. My aunts too are gone. I do have some cousins and one sibling. I am without children or spouse. So now I do have one uncle plus a chess win. Thank you Uncle.
The ratings attached to the PGN are the post-game ratings (after they were adjusted), but if you look at his record there was a previous win on time.
I suspect he means his first (live chess) win that wasn't the result of a time-out.
I'm not sure -- that's just the way they export.
I'd guess maybe it's because whoever designed it considered it more appropriate to include the indication of the level of play exhibited during the game (i.e. the resulting ratings) than the same measure from before the game even occurred? Similarly, your best win stat is based on your opponent's adjusted rating after the game in which you beat them.
Easy puzzle.
Who knew chess would be solved as a win for white -- let alone in 37 moves.
I actually didn't find it too difficult to guess all of white's move. A couple of them later in the game took me 5-8 tries, but most were 1 or 2.
Although everyone has different styles, I felt your only glaring blunder (by which i mean the only one I saw instantly) was overlooking 17 Rg3, the threat of 18Qxh6 must be answered. Note that black's g and f are pinned. 17... Qf6 18 Rg6 is lousy for black. 17 ... Kh1 or ...Kh2 are probably black's better choices at which point 18 Rc1 Nb4 or Nd4 19Bxf7 etc.
Congradulations on a win. These open games with Bc4 are full of pitfalls and I doubt if black's 3...h6 is book.
Edit: In the "style" dept, after 4 d4 exd 5c3 looks good to my open game, quick kill, he can't afford h6 way of thinking.
Nice, simple game, clean, not too many blunders; I congratulate you upon your first victory, and may there be many more to come.
