May we please have an option when creating a seek so that ONLY premium members can accept it?

why would you want that?

Premium members are less likely to be a n-th account of someone with a long history of abuse. (which does not mean that premium members are saints, of course)

I do see where your coming from. Premium members are a lot more likely to be mature about their playing  but only playing premium members is not the way to go. It would only make matching more difficult. I think that they should have a way of telling if a player has a history of abuse before you play them that way you can choose not to.

As stated in the OP:

We now pair everyone automatically to the best-matched opponent based on rating, lag, and user behavior.

So if YOU behave you get better opponents :)

Could that be the reason why I'm losing lots of games because of LAG ?? (losing on time and/or of lack of concentration because of LAG)
Please investigate that seriously, it's more than a serious issue....

I refuse to be a paying member on the site. The incompetence of the staff deliberately caused this problem. I expected them to immediately fix this. Apparently they do not want my money. I feel bad for the people that paid money that have to deal with this crap. I just wasted 12 minutes here. The first game was aborted after waiting 6 to 7 minutes. six minutes later I never even got a match. I was just looking for a standard 10 minute game. Over 11,000 people are on the site right now. I just wasted all my free time and I could not even get a game.

It took six minutes to get a game then when I got a game after 15 seconds it was aborted. Then I waited another six minutes and I just gave up because I never got matched

You are waiting a long time because you are only being matched up with others who are in the "Disconnector" pool. You have aborted or broken the Fair Play rules in 45% of your games. I don't know exactly what you have done, but again, in 45% of your games you have done something to break our Fair Play Policy (https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/articles/1444922-fair-play-policy). So now you are not able to be matched with our main pool until you play more games without the same kind of behavior. That is how the system is designed - the have similar types of players play each other. So yes, in this case you got matched with the kind of person who aborts games, and apparently they did.

I hope that you will be able to find a friend or a player to play some games while not breaking our policies so you can re-join the main pool and get better players faster!

Is the 45% based on a total games, or recent games?

45% is a LOT! That is more lenient than I would have suspected!

I play on my iphone. The board freezes a lot. Makes a lot of sense to punish me for that.

Having to play against someone in your situation is unpleasant and punishment for others.

It's not a punishment. It's just matching you up with other people in your same situation who are playing either on unstable networks or disconnecting for other reasons.

My network is stable your app is the problem!

My network is stable your app is the problem!

Point being you Play other players Who have difficulties and not the ones Who have learned to master modern technology

If a player sets a custom setting, say Game in 15/5.  Why shouldn't that setting remain as their default, until they change it ?

So, why the default to Game in 1/0, every time you return to LIVE Chess ?

And why the habitual notice for new "automatic" time controls ??  Another distraction, and another click is required to close that down.

Aren't there enough flashing lights, distractions, and extra keystrokes required to use the Live Chess screens, already ?  Why keep everyone busy, playing Thumbelina ?

P.S., On a separate issue, thanks to @Erik for his discussion above regarding the "disconnector pool."  Very illuminating.

Hi I agree with youWink

DrawMaster

If you choose one of the several fixed time controls as your choice, leaving and returning to Live Chess maintains that choice. At least it does from where I sit.

This site is now worthless. Auto pairing with much weaker players and no control.  Penalties for aborting too often    what else are you going to do when you keep getting paired with opponents 200 pointa below you?

bye!

I hate players who only are willing to play up. Selfish f*ck.

zborg

Open seeks of -100 and +200 work fine, if you're willing to wait a little.

It's not rocket science to understand the incentive -- that players roughly -200 below you are the people who want to pick up your Open Seek.

Just set your parameters, as per above, and Live With It.  Very Simple.

most people will be paired with someone +/-25 within a few seconds.

someone like you who aborts 31.5% of their games will take longer to get paired, will likely be paired with someone less close to their rating, and will only get paired with other people who disconnect (or break other Fair Play policy rules) more than 20% of the time.
