Offering a draw when you're clearly losing the game...

Its the worst when your up plus 10, and they just start throwing away everything on their side to win by 3 seconds, technically legal moves, just petty, I've lost easily 200 points to the dirty tactic..

whenever someone does that and if i have two rooks i take out all of their pieces and trap them in a 2x1 against the edge with the two rooks so they can only move back and forth and are either forced to resign or stay moving back and forth as i slowly drain out the time and send them h*te sp*ch over the chat as i keep moving my king around to avoid stalemate while all they can do is move back and forth and then checkmate them when i only have around 10 seconds left and they've just started to get a false sense of hope that maybe they could have won only to shatter it and teach them a lesson and then make them feel the guilt and regret for staying that long and thinking that they could have possibly changed anything when i was in complete control of the situation and there was nothing they could have done except their own pathetic defeat and hopefully leave them shattered have you ever done that before?

One time, in a simul, against GM Ehsan Ghaem Maghami, my brother (who was nine at the time) offered a draw in a position that was slightly worse for him, and still with a lot of play left (he just wanted to say he drew a GM), and GM Ghaem Maghami asked, "Does this position look drawn to you?" which has become my go-to response when people offer a draw in lost positions.

sad.png I lost so many of mine like that. I have used it in the opening before, and I just failed.

I just gave a draw, when I was up a queen, simply because I made huge errors and felt like I didn't really earn a win, sometimes respect is more important.

Yes, it is poor sportsmanship and if the draw is offered repeatedly, should be reported.

Curious about what you think of this - I offered my opponent draws and he made me play 50 moves of R v R in an increment time control:

I find it disrespectful to both players' time and I reported this opponent. When do you think it is ok to decline a draw and play such a position (clock times?) and when it is just poor sportsmanship?

Here's what I do to these kinds of people: One move from checkmate offer a draw then play the checkmate.

PS. More efficient online than OTB. If you're brave enough to do this in person more power to you XD
