Opponents refusing to resign

It's known as being a "Sore loser." people like that can't accept defeat, and feel that the only way they can get revenge is to run the clock down and possibly annoy their opponent. I like to get revenge if I lose a game, however, I resign when it's hopeless and offer a REMATCH. It's immature to run the clock down for no reason, and those people should be kicked out of chess.com

I believe that the OP was the cause of all this trouble. Your opponent has the right not to resign. You are only a 1200 and I've seen many 1200s stalemate with a rook, a knight and 4 pawns. So I don't think you are excluded from the list.

I don't know why are you even making such a fuss about this. Please be more mature. Thanks.

Actually I was ranked a 1333 at the time, and never have I stalemated with a rook & king v. a king.

Still, he doesn't know that. I can't really understand why you made this thread either. My only reasonable solution is that you are complaining because this person wasted your time. You could have saved your time by checkmating him quicker. It's your fault.

Um, did you read the OP at all? It's one thing to consistently evade checkmate with a lone king against overwhelming force. It's another thing to walk away from the board for nineteen minutes. One is a legitimate tactic, although a bit pigheaded... the other isn't chess, just petulance.

I joined about a week ago and since then i have had many games where the opponent lets their clock run down before making a final move with a few seconds left.

Is there anything that i can do about this? usually i would just resign myself and not care about the rating change, but its hard to get a decent game with a really low number next to your name.

There is nothing you can do to force an opponent to resign - it is in their rights to continue playing. However, you could always play shorter games if you didn't want to wait as long. ;)

The annoying part is that it's hard to know how long a game will take without knowing the opponent. I've had a few interesting games end on time (or with a careless mistake due to time) that i would have preferred to play out to the end.

Is there any way to start multiple games? It would be good if i could simply begin playing someone else when i realised my current opponent was being a jerk.

Some turn-based games run as fast as LiveChess games - while both players are online. There's no limit to how many turn-based games you can play  simultaneously and - if several opponents are online - keeping up with all the games can be like trying to keep plates spinning.

So, I got kicked from livechess partly due to the word 'bugger' being banned. Shame I use it every day as part of my vocabulary (yeh, I am Australian D:). Anyway, I versed Moethechess and he said I was 'embarssing him' so he let his clock run down to 5 minutes while we had a friendly chat. If chat logs can be read, please read mine and get back to me. Soooo, he refused to move so I said 'bugger' at some point in the conversation cos I stuffed a move up and got a warning. As the game drew near the end he resigned and I accidentally swore and that was that! <3 How long until I can play again or am I gone for good? He didn't even see my swear word as it was typed right as he resigned and submitted shortly after. -_- Oh well... guess if there is no unban time I shall see you all later. =)

It's fun if you're playing OTB against someone who refuses to resign - promote all your pawns to knights, and make him scrounge the pieces off other players. I once had someone throw the pieces all over the floor after the third knight (I'd still got my original pair). I just went to the bar and waited for him to pick them all up.

I'm 100% with you! Why drag out a lost game - just to annoy your opponent? I can do without people like that
