Poor Connection

I have been playing chess on chess.com for many years. The internet connection was ALWAYS very well. For about a month the connection is always very very bad. What`s the cause?
My location is germany, the ping is always about 12ms. Bandwith: 16 000 kbit/s

Here in the U.S. my connection is fast. It is probably a bottlekneck somewhere along the route - possibly with your ISP.

Or check to see if your browser is updated? I updated mine to Google Chrome recently and it has helped alot. Before Google Chrome, I wasn't able to finish a game during our internet peak  hours here in California.

Try using the most recent version of whatever browser you're using. If you already are, try uninstalling and reinstalling it which probably won't help, but it might.

Try using a different browser, IE8, Firefox 4 and Google Chrome are the most popular.

Pay for a faster connection and/or switch ISPs.

Double-check your connection at this link if you haven't already:

Maximus: do you mean Live Chess only or the whole Chess.com site?

I have similiar problem, when I joined this site (6 march) I was able to play 'live chess' no problems at all. About week later 'live chess' was almost unplayable (I play only unrated now due to frequent disconnections) I read somewhere that's because chess.cm changed something to fight ppl with lag (that was causin sometimes unfair advantage especially in 'bullet') and because they have only server in U.S. ppl from Europe or Asia have the most problems. It's just rumours I read somwhere in the forums unconfirmed by staff but there might be some truth in it. I'm using Chrome, my computer is ok (cookies and other staff are removed frequently, no other programs in background). To be honest I frequently use wireless (on the move with my laptop) but I have same problems even at home with good broadband (20Mb). Many ppl say that recently after some 'upgrades' chess.com did to the site they experience problems with 'live chess'.

Maybe setting up additional server in Europe and Asia could solve this problem?

Are you a Pre. Member? I have the same problem in the U.S. and am not a paying member yet. Why would I want to pay if my games keep getting cut off

Now I use the Google Chrome Browser. The problem is fixed.

THANX

brooklyngunman

recently up to now  i lost game after game because of this, mere thoughts of impending lags at crunch time will cause you to make ridiculous losing moves that a beginner would not even think of!!!

SharmaPawan

You must use google chrome

just for the record , im from germany. Im trying to open the live chess page with 3 diffrent browser at the same time now Opera , firefox and google chrome and all 3 fail to open the page or to play on it. My connection displays if the application page even opens as poor what i cant understand. Aside that its loading like 5min to just open the live page wich i asume is like 300kb application or some how the hell can that be. Guys get a new server to host the page or tables on. Now it worked with a proxy ip yesterday some time but today i changed and tested other proxy wich failed and cleared the one that worked. Im already thinking about a us ip might work. Idk but this shi... gets me mad atm. Cant be i cant play on this page. The browser all latest version upgraded cache cleared and all opera i just even installed today to test it so...

kingshinobi

now its fixed and seems to work well. thx

Thanks for the update! It seems it was Deutsche Telekom issue for many people from Germany.
