Rating inflation.

Hello everyone,
Hope you all are having a good day.

I've been thinking about something very recently that start puzzling me a bit too much.

These days I'm winning too easily against 1800+ elo rated players.
People with 1780-1800+ rating making obvious (if not stupid) mistakes are in almost every 1-min games I play.

Did chess.com change something in its elo algorithm?
Does the elo for new players has recently increased?

Anyone feeling the same or experiencing the same situation?

From January to August (8 months), I managed to break beyond 1850 elo rating only 3 times.
Jan 1st, 2020 : 1857 elo
Feb 23, 2020 : 1876 elo
Aug 26, 2020 : 1859 elo

But from September to October (only 2 months), I've already break 1850 elo 3 times.
Sep 23, 2020 : 1903 elo
Oct 15, 2020 : 1871 elo
Oct 30, 2020 : 1854 elo

And since Nov 6, I'm above 1884 elo and continuously rising.
I break 2000 elo today. That's a first since I'm here. (6 years with this account)

All this doesn't mean I don't believe in me and my ability to progress.
But all this (opponents making what were obvious mistakes a couple of months before for the same level; a steady rising beyond 1850 elo, sure, only since 5 days but still) just feels too good to be true.

I know I'm making progress but this feels very sudden.

I didn't change anything in particular in the way I'm learning chess so this feels very odd.

Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks in advance.

They raised all bullet player ratings by 150 points on September 10, 2020.

That would explain it.

Thanks.
That's why one of my friends is now leading my group of friends with 150 elo more than the rest.

Also, those who unjustifiably (in my opinion) got more elo will always lose them against me.

I don't know how chess.com actually came to conclusion that if you're good at rapid chess it means you must be good at bullet chess but the absurdity of their reasoning is showing.

"In a recent review, we found that bullet chess ratings are consistently about 150 points lower than blitz ratings" and "to correct this, we are increasing bullet chess ratings for all active bullet users on the site by 150 points" just doesn't cut it.

The elo increase is (in my opinion) for commercial reasons; this is just to reinvigorate the platform and attract more people.

One of these 'inflated' players ended up losing 123 elo against me (score: 56 - 8), from 1804 to 1681. But he's now higher than when we play. He probably beat people far weaker than him with that same inflated status.

All this is achieving is inflating elo and ego.
Unjustified elo points will be lost against players who deserve them.

Bullet is not chess. If you win against those doesnt mean you play better chess. The algorithm thing is a different story. Im very bad at bullet. But i dont consider it seriously.

What makes bullet chess 'not chess'?

Then what are you doing here?
