Hello SwordLordMN. It is possible that the game you are referring to was an unrated game. When you play in Live Chess you should always make sure to check if the game you are accepting or seeking is an unrated or rated game. Also, there are 3 different rating categories in the Live Chess. Rating System
There is a set of rules for how to rate the games that are being played..? I looked at Patzer24 link... There are no rules there..!
I will never understand the rating system on this site. Every time I lose a game, I lose 10-15 points minimum. I just checkmated an opponent who had a rating that was 300 over mine. I did not get one single point for that. I've basically given up on the ratings and just play for the enjoyment of the game. A monkey could come up with ratings math that would make more sense than what's here.
Maybe a monkey with a Ph.D.
