Hi, have a question about ratings, I recently played somone that was rated only about 40 points better than me, and when I won I got 156 points added to my rating.  Similarly, I lost to an opponent that was ranked well above me, by more than 100 points, my rating fell by 56 points after.  They both seem a little disproportionate, so why does that happen sometimes.

 Thanks

I see you don't have many games in either Bullet or Standard games, so if you play a game at one of those controls you can expect a big swing with each outcome.  You have a fair number of Blitz games, so there I would think your rating should be more established and be less volatile from game to game.

Read the information in Help about the Glicko RD.  Basically, as that value for you gets smaller, your rating variation from an individual game will get smaller.
